Course Summary

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a philosophy and practice, designed to promote strong connections that meet other’s needs by being deeply empathic and caring towards them.
The goal of the “Nonviolent Communication and Education” course is to teach participants effective communication skills that promote empathy, understanding, and cooperation. As a result of Marshall B. Rosenberg’s research, NVC was developed to improve personal and professional relationships by addressing communication patterns that lead to conflict and misunderstandings.
This course will introduce participants to the principles and practices of Nonviolent Communication and how it can be applied in a variety of educational settings. This course is designed to teach participants the skills necessary to communicate effectively and compassionately through the combination of theory, practical exercises, and real-life applications. During the course, you will learn how to express your feelings and needs without criticizing or blaming others. In addition, you will learn how to listen to them with empathy and understanding.
Healthy communication between students and teachers involves looking beyond the traditional roles of “student” and “teacher” and treating each other with kindness and consideration. Rather than reacting, this approach encourages curiosity. Using compassion to address behavioral problems and the emotions behind them is more effective than using judgments and punishments.
A healthy relationship between students and teachers is critical for children to learn how to interact constructively with adults, reducing misunderstandings.
