Course Summary

Modern teachers are facing increasing challenges: stress, emotional fatigue, screen overload, and a growing disconnection from nature and movement. Schools are becoming more aware of the urgent need to support both teacher and student wellbeing, not only indoors but also through meaningful outdoor experiences.

This Erasmus+ training offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while learning practical techniques to improve their physical and mental health, manage stress, and create moments of calm and balance in their professional and personal lives.

The course follows an experiential, hands-on methodology where participants will learn by doing: moving, breathing, creating, and reflecting outdoors. Every session is designed to reconnect teachers with nature through sensory explorations, mindfulness practices, gentle physical activities, reflective journaling, and creative exercises in natural settings.

Participants will experience the powerful role of nature as a space for learning, healing, and inspiration, and will discover how to bring these practices into their school environments to support their students’ emotional and physical wellbeing. The course places strong emphasis on wellbeing outdoors, demonstrating how regular contact with natural spaces can help reduce stress, increase focus, and foster a sense of connection and inner calm.

Throughout the week, teachers will explore tools for stress relief, discover the benefits of mindful movement, engage in outdoor group dynamics, and develop a personal wellbeing action plan that can be sustained after the mobility. The course also promotes peer learning moments, where international participants share their own wellbeing strategies and school practices.

Designed to inspire and energise, this course helps teachers create healthier learning environments, for themselves and for future generations.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

Methodological Approach to Outdoor Education and Wellbeing

In this course, outdoor activities are not presented as leisure or informal exploration, but as structured pedagogical methodologies designed to support learning, wellbeing, and professional development in educational and training contexts.

Participants are guided to translate outdoor-based experiences into concrete educational applications, focusing on emotional regulation, attention, resilience, group dynamics, environmental awareness and professional wellbeing in education.

All activities are embedded within a structured daily program of 5 hours, combining theory, practice, reflection and pedagogical transfer, in line with Erasmus+ quality and eligibility requirements.

All sessions are facilitated by qualified trainers with professional experience in education, adult learning and outdoor educational methodologies, ensuring methodological rigour and alignment with Erasmus+ quality standards.

Practical Transfer to Educational Settings

Throughout the course, participants will:

  • Learn how structured outdoor activities can be used as pedagogical tools to improve attention, emotional regulation, stress management, and readiness to learn.

  • Explore mindfulness and body-awareness practices in outdoor settings, adapted for safe and inclusive use with learners of different ages and abilities.

  • Analyse how outdoor education can support transversal competences such as emotional intelligence, teamwork, responsibility, and environmental awareness.
  • Use nature-based and experiential learning methodologies to foster resilience, self-regulation, cooperation, and positive group dynamics.

  • Examine case studies and real educational scenarios in which outdoor methodologies are applied to address stress, disengagement, behavioural challenges.

  • Develop strategies to apply outdoor learning to classroom management, social-emotional learning and conflict prevention.

Pedagogical Application and Reflection

Participants are required to:

  • Reflect on how outdoor and nature-based methodologies can be adapted to their own educational context (school, adult education centre, vocational training, or non-formal learning).

  • Design simple, realistic action plans describing how they will integrate outdoor learning activities into their professional practice after the course.

  • Participate in guided group discussions to critically assess benefits, limitations, ethical considerations, safety aspects, and cultural sensitivity when applying outdoor methodologies in education.

The course aims at equipping educators with practical, ethically responsible pedagogical tools to support learning processes, emotional climate, inclusion, and professional wellbeing.

Course Goals

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the connection between nature, mental health, and wellbeing;
  • Apply practical techniques for stress reduction through outdoor activities;
