Course Summary
This practical course trains language educators to harness moving pictures, body language, facial expressions, and cinematic dimensions as powerful tools for interactive classroom communication.
Participants will explore key pedagogical strategies for integrating short films, analyzing film grammar (sound, dialogue, camera framing, and narrative time structures like flashbacks and predictions) to teach grammar, vocabulary, and oral expression. Educators gain hands-on experience using accessible, modern digital editing and storytelling tools (such as CapCut, Canva, and interactive video platforms) to produce tailored trailer activities and film-based learning tasks.
Through collaborative workshops and dialogue, participants address topics such as empathy, inclusion, intercultural values, and active class discussion.

- Analyze film language elements (sound, imagery, dialogue, camera movement) to design visual context-driven language lessons.
- Utilize short films to teach complex grammatical structures (verb tenses, flashbacks, conditionality) and non-verbal communication cues.
- Produce customized short video clips, trailers, and digital storytelling projects using user-friendly video editing tools.
- Construct interactive, student-centered discussion tasks that promote empathy, teamwork, and intercultural reflection.
- Adapt film-based learning resources to accommodate diverse learner profiles, including students with special educational needs.
- Exchange creative language teaching methodologies and cultural perspectives with European colleagues.
- Enhance digital media literacy, English communication fluency, and social collaboration skills.
Daily Program
DAY 1
Cross-Cultural Exchange, European Educational Context & Course Orientation
- Pre-Session work: Self Preparation to share your school’s context, cultural background and completion of the Cultural Quiz.
- Welcome Session: Networking between participants and Erasmus+ team
- Icebreaking activities and sharing of European core values.
- Open space for participants to share ideas and discuss current challenges in the Education sector; collaborative opportunity to exchange future goals (activity).

DAY 2
Pedagogies of Short Film & Classroom Implementation
- Principles and objectives of using short films in second language acquisition
- Key pedagogical frameworks: visual scaffolding, body language, non-verbal cues
- Assessing language across sound and image.
DAY 3
Sound, Music, Dialogue & Visual Literacy
- Exploiting film dialogue and sound effects for listening comprehension
- Teaching language through soundtrack genres, tone, visual imagery
- Practical exercises designing listening tasks around film excerpts.
DAY 4
Non-Verbal Cues, Tenses & Interactive Storytelling
- Decoding facial expressions and gestures to build communicative competence
- Using narrative film time (flashbacks, ellipsis, prediction) to teach past/future tenses
- Creating interactive visual stories.
DAY 5
Digital Tools, Clip Editing & Trailer Creation
- Modern video editing tools (CapCut, Canva Video, iMovie) for classroom media production
- Editing clips, trimming video lengths, adding subtitles
- Producing a mini-trailer or film-based activity unit.
DAY 6
Classroom Production Showcase & Certification
- Group presentations of participant-created film lesson units
- Reflection on international language projects
